Profil Zaufany (Trusted Profile) is Poland's official digital identity system β the equivalent of an electronic signature for all government services. Since MOS became mandatory for residence permit applications, having Profil Zaufany is no longer optional. It is essential.
What You Can Do With Profil Zaufany
- Submit residence permit applications via MOS
- File tax returns online (e-PIT)
- Register a business (JDG) via CEIDG
- Access ZUS insurance portal
- Sign official documents electronically
- Contact government offices without visiting in person

Method 2: In Person at a Point of Confirmation
If you don't have a Polish bank account, you can confirm your identity in person:
- Go to gov.pl and create a Profil Zaufany account
- Request confirmation code (valid for 14 days)
- Visit a confirmation point: ZUS office, Urzad Gminy, post office, or bank branch
- Bring your passport and the confirmation code
- Staff will verify your identity and activate the profile
Method 3: Via mObywatel App
If you already have a valid Karta Pobytu with a chip, you can use the mObywatel app to set up Profil Zaufany without visiting any office. Just scan your card with NFC.
Troubleshooting Common Problems
- 'Name doesn't match' β make sure your PESEL is correctly registered
- 'Document expired' β renew your passport or Karta Pobytu first
- Bank doesn't support it β switch to in-person method at ZUS
