How long does a residence card decision take?+
In our practice the full cycle takes 8 to 16 months depending on the voivodeship; in Mazowieckie (Warsaw) it's usually 11–16 months. Long waits are the norm in Poland — and the whole time you have the right to stay in the country legally.
Can I travel abroad while waiting?+
Yes, but with restrictions. With the submission stamp you can travel to Schengen countries. For trips to third countries you'll need a valid visa.
What documents do I need to apply?+
The basic package: passport, photos, proof of accommodation, proof of employment or study, health insurance, and income documents. The exact list depends on your grounds — we prepare an individual checklist for every client.
Can I work while waiting for my card?+
Yes, if you have a valid work permit. With the submission stamp you keep your existing rights until the decision comes. If you don't have a permit, we'll help you get one in parallel.
What happens if my visa expires during the process?+
If the application was submitted before your visa expired, the stamp automatically extends your right to stay until the decision. The key thing is not to travel without consulting us first, so you don't interrupt that status.
Can I bring my family on my residence card?+
Yes. Your spouse and children can apply for residence on reunification grounds. You'll need a valid residence card and a stable income.
What should I do if I changed jobs while my application is being processed?+
You need to notify the voivodeship office about the change of employer. In some cases a new application is required. Check with us before making the switch.
What is PESEL and do I need it?+
PESEL is the Polish identification number, similar to a tax ID. You need it to open a bank account, get a job and access healthcare. Foreigners staying longer than 30 days are entitled to one. We help you get a PESEL as part of our full support.
