How to Get Karta Pobytu in Poland 2026 | Full Guide

Everything you need to know about applying for Karta Pobytu in Poland in 2026: documents, deadlines, MOS submission, and tips to avoid refusal.

Karta Pobytu (residence permit card) is the main document confirming your right to stay and work in Poland. Since April 27, 2026, all applications must be submitted online via the MOS system. This guide walks you through every step.

What is Karta Pobytu?

Karta Pobytu is a plastic card issued by the Voivode confirming your temporary or permanent residence in Poland. It serves as your ID within Schengen and allows you to work without a separate work permit (in most cases).

How Long Does It Take?

Standard processing time is 60-90 days. After submitting via MOS, you receive a temporary stamp in your passport that keeps your legal stay valid during the review. Keep this stamp active — it is your legal basis to stay.

Tip: Submit at least 45 days before your current permit expires. The earlier you apply, the smoother the process.
