April 27, 2026 is a turning point for all foreigners in Poland. Starting this date, paper applications at Voivode offices are no longer accepted. The only way to apply for Karta Pobytu or any residence permit is through MOS β the online government portal.
What is MOS?
MOS (Modul Obslugi Sprawy) is the Polish government's online system for processing residence permit applications. It replaced the old system of physical visits and paper queues. Everything from submitting documents to tracking your case status happens here.
What You Need Before Starting
- Profil Zaufany (ePUAP identity verification) β mandatory
- Valid email address
- Scanned copies of all documents (PDF or JPG, max 10MB each)
- Polish bank account or card to pay the stamp duty online
Step 1: Get Profil Zaufany
Profil Zaufany is your digital identity in Poland's e-government system. Without it, you cannot access MOS. You can get it via:
- Online banking (PKO, mBank, ING, Santander, Millennium support it)
- In-person at a ZUS office, post office (Poczta Polska), or bank branch
- Via the mObywatel app if you have a Polish ID or Karta Pobytu
Step 2: Log in to MOS
- Go to cudzoziemcy.gov.pl or moj.gov.pl
- Click 'Zaloguj sie' and choose Profil Zaufany
- Complete login with your bank or ePUAP credentials
Step 3: Fill the Application
Select the type of permit you're applying for. The form will guide you section by section: personal data, reason for stay, employment, address, and document uploads. Take your time β errors delay the process.
Step 4: Upload Documents and Pay
- Upload all required scans in the correct fields
- Pay 440 PLN for the residence card (online payment)
- Submit the application β you'll get a confirmation email
After Submission
You can track your case status in real time via MOS. Once the Voivode requests additional documents, you'll receive a notification by email. You have 7 days to respond. Missing this deadline can result in rejection.
Important: After submitting, you receive a temporary stamp. Go to the Voivode office within 3 days to get it stamped in your passport.
MOS can be confusing the first time β especially with the language barrier. Legal Solution submits applications on your behalf so you can skip the stress and focus on your life in Poland.
